Description

Pineapple Cheese Ball: A unique and delicious party appetizer made with cream cheese, crushed pineapple, and nuts, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • two 8-ounce packages cream cheese blocks, well softened to room temperature
  • 8 ounces crushed pineapple from a can, with the juice well squeezed out and drained off
  • 1 ¾ cup chopped pecans, divided
  • ¼ cup chopped green onion, use both white and green parts
  • ¼ cup green bell pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons fresh parsley, finely minced for garnishing

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cream cheese, pineapple, half the nuts, green onions, green bell pepper, salt, and garlic powder.
  2. Using a spatula or your hands, gently form the mixture into a ball.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more salt, garlic powder, or spices to preference.
  4. If the mixture is too soft, refrigerate for about 15 minutes to firm it up.
  5. Once shaped into a ball, roll it in the remaining chopped nuts to coat evenly.
  6. Wrap the cheese ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 to 30 minutes before serving.
  7. Optionally garnish with fresh parsley before serving with crackers or dippers.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is softened for easier mixing.
  • Make ahead by preparing the ball and refrigerating up to 24-36 hours before serving.
  • Extra cheese ball can be stored airtight in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • Do not freeze leftovers as nuts may become soft.
