Description

A unique and delightful dessert combining banana pudding and tacos for a fun twist on a classic treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 to 10 small flour tortillas (street taco size)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 box (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped to soft peaks, or 1 cup prepared whipped topping
  • 2 medium ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 cup crushed vanilla wafers
  • Additional whipped cream (for topping)
  • Banana slices (for garnish)
  • Mini vanilla wafers (for garnish)
  • Caramel sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly brush both sides of each tortilla with melted butter.
  2. Combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle the mixture over both sides of the tortillas.
  3. Drape the tortillas over the bars of the oven rack to form a taco shape, placing a baking sheet below to catch any drips.
  4. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes until the shells are golden brown and crisp.
  5. Carefully remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before filling.
  6. In a large bowl, whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with the cold milk until smooth and thickened.
  7. Gently fold in the whipped cream or prepared whipped topping until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  8. Stir in the crushed vanilla wafers.
  9. Spoon the banana pudding filling into each cooled taco shell.
  10. Add a layer of sliced bananas.
  11. Top with additional whipped cream.
  12. Garnish with banana slices, mini vanilla wafers, and a drizzle of caramel sauce if desired.
  13. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Make sure not to overbake the tortilla shells to avoid a hard texture.
  • For extra flavor, consider adding some chocolate chips to the banana pudding filling.
  • Can be prepared ahead of time; just fill the shells before serving to keep them crisp.
