Description

Thai Peanut Turkey Burgers are a delicious and flavorful twist on traditional turkey burgers, featuring a rich peanut sauce and fresh toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons warm water
  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • 1 cup shredded carrot
  • 1 cup cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix ground turkey, breadcrumbs, green onions, cilantro, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper until just incorporated.
  2. Divide turkey mixture into four equal portions and form into uniform patties.
  3. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high and lightly oil the surface prior to cooking.
  4. Grill or pan-cook patties 5 to 6 minutes per side until fully cooked with an internal temperature of 165°F.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, honey, and sriracha. Gradually blend in warm water until the sauce reaches a smooth and pourable consistency.
  6. Spread a portion of peanut sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place one turkey patty on each, drizzle with additional sauce, then top with shredded carrot, cucumber slices, cilantro leaves, and red onion. Cover with top bun.
  7. Serve immediately, accompanied by extra peanut sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level of the peanut sauce by varying the amount of sriracha used.
  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • These burgers can be grilled, baked, or pan-fried based on preference.
