Description

A delicious and easy-to-make steak dinner packed in foil with rice and vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 1 (1-oz) packet onion soup mix
  • 1 pound steak, cube steak or top round steak
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk, divided
  • Carrots, zucchini, asparagus, bell peppers, green beans, etc. (optional)
  • Heavy duty foil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Tear off 4 large sheets of heavy duty foil, about 10-12 inches across.
  3. Add 1 cup of cooked rice to the center of each sheet of foil.
  4. Top rice with about 1-2 teaspoons of onion soup mix.
  5. Slice the steak into 12 thin strips, about 1 inch wide.
  6. Place 3 strips of steak on top of each mound of rice.
  7. Add chopped vegetables around the edges if desired and season with salt and pepper.
  8. Pour 2 tablespoons of evaporated milk over each mound.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining onion soup mix evenly over the steak for each packet.
  10. Bring the short ends of the foil together and fold down securely over the food, then fold corners in to create a secure packet.
  11. Place the packets on a large baking sheet.
  12. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
  13. Carefully open each packet after removing from the oven, avoiding steam burns.
  14. Serve hot!

Notes

  • Can be made on a campfire or grill – see the notes for instructions.
