Description

As a busy mom and passionate home cook, I know how challenging it can be to whip up something satisfying after a long day. That’s why I love making Steak and Cheese Garlic Toast. This delightful dish gives you all the heartiness of a steak dinner, but with the comforting twist of crispy garlic toast. It’s perfect for those nights when you want to impress your family without spending hours in the kitchen. Plus, who can resist the aroma of garlic and melting cheese wafting through the house? Trust me, your loved ones will be begging for more!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of thick-cut bread (French bread or Texas toast)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 300 g (1012 oz) ribeye, sirloin, or flank steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) shredded cheddar cheese (or provolone)
  • 1/2 onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Red pepper flakes (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, and chopped parsley.
  3. Spread the garlic butter evenly over one side of each bread slice. Place the bread on a baking sheet, buttered side up.
  4. Bake for 6–8 minutes or until the edges are golden and crispy. Set aside.
  5. Season the steak generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and butter.
  7. Once hot, add the steak and cook for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare or until your desired doneness. Add Worcestershire sauce in the last minute for extra flavor.
  8. Remove the steak from the skillet, let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice it thinly against the grain.
  9. In the same skillet, sauté the onions and green bell pepper for 3–4 minutes until soft and slightly caramelized (optional).
  10. Top each slice of garlic toast with a layer of the sliced steak.
  11. Add a mixture of mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top of the steak. If using sautéed onions and peppers, layer them over the cheese.
  12. Place the assembled toasts back in the oven and broil on high for 2–3 minutes or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
  13. Remove from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired.
  14. Serve hot and enjoy!
