Description

A delightful fusion of rich chocolate brownies and creamy matcha cheesecake, these Matcha Cheesecake Swirl Brownies offer a unique and indulgent dessert experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cheesecake)
  • 1 large egg (for cheesecake)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for cheesecake)
  • 1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cheesecake)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing an overhang for easy removal.
  2. Combine unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Melt together using a microwave in 30-second intervals or over a bain-marie, stirring until smooth. Allow mixture to cool slightly.
  3. Whisk granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract into the cooled chocolate mixture until combined. Fold in all-purpose flour and salt until just incorporated. Set aside.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. Add egg, all-purpose flour, matcha powder, and vanilla extract; beat until fully combined and smooth.
  5. Spread two-thirds of the brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan. Spoon the matcha cheesecake mixture in several dollops over the brownie layer. Add remaining brownie batter in between.
  6. Gently swirl the brownie and matcha cheesecake mixtures together with a skewer or knife to create a marbled effect.
  7. Bake for 35 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is just slightly jiggly. Cool completely in the pan, then lift out using the parchment overhang and slice into squares.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is softened for easy mixing.
  • The brownies should not be overbaked to maintain a fudgy texture.
  • You can adjust the matcha powder for a stronger or milder flavor as per your preference.
