Description

Jalapeño Curry Turkey Burgers are a delicious twist on traditional turkey burgers, infused with spicy jalapeño and aromatic curry flavors, served with a refreshing slaw and creamy curry tahini sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground turkey (preferably 94% lean)
  • 1 diced jalapeño
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon yellow curry powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • ½ cup tahini (for Curry Tahini Sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow curry powder (for Curry Tahini Sauce)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric (for Curry Tahini Sauce)
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt & pepper to taste (for Curry Tahini Sauce)
  • 1 cup shredded carrots (for Slaw)
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage (red or green)
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (for Slaw)
  • Salt & pepper to taste (for Slaw)
  • Burger buns (gluten-free if needed)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey with diced jalapeño, cilantro, coconut sugar, turmeric, cumin, curry powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into 4 patties.
  2. Grill the patties over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes per side, or cook in a skillet with a little oil until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine shredded carrots, cabbage, green onions, apple cider vinegar, sesame oil, and maple syrup. Season with salt and pepper, and toss to combine.
  4. Whisk together tahini, lemon juice, garlic, maple syrup, curry powder, ginger, turmeric, cayenne, and salt and pepper until smooth.
  5. Serve the turkey patties on buns (or lettuce wraps for gluten-free), topping them with slaw and curry tahini sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or less jalapeño.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute turkey with a plant-based meat alternative.
  • Leftover patties can be stored in the fridge and reheated on the grill or stovetop.
