Description
A creamy and delightful Italian dish featuring chicken and tortellini in a rich cheese sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced
- 1 cup Italian dressing
- 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 ounces tortellini pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Add diced chicken to a large bowl and mix with Italian dressing, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper. Allow to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Bring a large pot of water to boil. Cook the tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and drizzle a little olive oil on the pasta to prevent sticking.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and cook the chicken pieces until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Remove from the skillet.
- Reduce skillet heat to medium and add butter. Once melted, whisk in all-purpose flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add heavy whipping cream while whisking until the sauce thickens and begins to simmer. Stir in Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses until combined into a thick, cheesy sauce. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Add the cooked chicken and tortellini to the cheese sauce in the skillet. Stir to combine, then serve and enjoy.
Notes
- Ensure chicken is fully cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Feel free to add vegetables such as spinach or bell peppers for added nutrition.
