Ingredients

  • 200 g granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 35 g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 65 g all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 85 g chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease a 20 cm square baking tin and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Stir in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  3. Sift in the unsweetened cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until the batter just comes together.
  4. Gently fold in the chocolate chips to distribute evenly throughout the batter.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and spread it evenly to the edges.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the tin before removing.
  8. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut cooled brownies into heart shapes.
  9. Arrange heart-shaped brownies on a platter and serve.
