Description
Fluffy Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins are delightful, soft muffins coated with a sweet cinnamon sugar topping, perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup milk (or up to 1 cup if batter seems too thick)
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the Topping:
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (for dipping)
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a muffin tin or line it with paper liners.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla until well combined.
- Make the Batter: Pour the wet mixture into the dry and stir until just combined. If the batter feels stiff, add a bit more milk (up to ¼ cup extra) until soft and scoopable, but not runny.
- Bake: Spoon the batter into muffin cups, filling each about ¾ full. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the tops are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cinnamon Sugar Topping: While muffins are still warm, dip the tops in melted butter, then roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Enjoy Warm: Best served warm and fresh — just like Grandma used to do!
Notes
- For an extra flavor boost, consider adding nutmeg or a splash of almond extract to the batter.
- These muffins are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
