Description
Easy 4 Ingredient Blueberry Bagels are quick and simple to make, featuring fresh blueberries and a delightful combination of yogurt and buttermilk for a soft texture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup buttermilk (or kefir)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten (optional for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together Greek yogurt and buttermilk in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
- Sift in flour, baking powder, and salt into the wet mixture. Stir until a dough forms, adjusting with additional buttermilk or flour if necessary to achieve the right consistency.
- Gently fold fresh blueberries into the dough to evenly distribute without breaking them.
- Divide the dough into 5 to 6 equal portions. Form each into a ball and create a hole in the center to shape as bagels.
- Optionally brush the tops with the beaten egg to achieve a glossy, golden finish during baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until firm and cooked through.
- Broil for an additional 2 minutes to develop a golden crust. Monitor closely to prevent burning.
- Allow bagels to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a dairy-free option, you can use a dairy-free yogurt and a non-dairy milk substitute.
- Feel free to add more or less blueberries to suit your taste.
- The egg wash is optional but recommended for a shiny finish.
