Description

A delicious deep-dish pie filled with ground beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, and a blend of cheeses, perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 cup pepperoni, sliced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough comes together. Form into a ball, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened. Stir in tomato sauce, oregano, basil, and black pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch deep-dish pie pan. Press the dough into the pan and trim the edges.
  6. Layer half of the meat mixture into the crust. Top with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Add the remaining meat mixture and top with pepperoni slices.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining cheeses over the top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Let the pie cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
