Description

A delicious and creamy grilled cheese sandwich with avocado and melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of bread
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat, ensuring it is hot enough to achieve a golden brown crust on the bread.
  2. In a small bowl, mash the ripe avocado with a fork until smooth. Season the mashed avocado with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting based on your preference.
  3. In another bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese and shredded cheddar cheese, mixing them well for an even distribution.
  4. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side of two slices, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise.
  5. Place the two slices of bread with mayonnaise side down in the skillet. Evenly spread the mashed avocado over the bread in the skillet. Sprinkle the garlic powder and onion powder over the avocado.
  6. Layer the cheese mixture over the avocado. If using, top with the fresh basil leaves.
  7. Top with the remaining two slices of bread, ensuring the buttered side is facing up.
  8. Grill the sandwiches in the skillet until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side. Adjust the heat as necessary to prevent burning.
  9. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • Feel free to add more spices based on your taste.
  • For a crunchier bread, try using sourdough or whole grain.
  • Adjust the amount of cheese for a cheesier sandwich.
