Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ½ cup warm milk (110°F)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
- 2–3 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, granulated sugar, and yeast. Stir to dissolve and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, eggs, softened butter, and vanilla extract. Pour in the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Mix together softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl until smooth and well combined for the filling.
- Gently fold in fresh blueberries into the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle, about 16×12 inches.
- Evenly spread the cinnamon filling over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border on the edges.
- Starting from the longer side, roll the dough into a tight log and slice it into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the sliced rolls into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, cover with a cloth, and let them rise for 30 minutes, or until puffy and slightly touching.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
- Let the rolls cool in the pan for 10 minutes before glazing.
- In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons of milk, and mix until smooth and pourable. Add more milk if needed to reach desired consistency.
- Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the warm rolls and serve while warm.
Notes
- Use fresh blueberries for best results.
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to properly activate the yeast.
- Adjust the consistency of the glaze by adding more or less milk.
