Description

A comforting breakfast dish that combines fluffy biscuits and rich sausage gravy, perfect for hearty morning meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 16-ounce cans jumbo butter biscuits
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 15-ounce cans creamy sausage gravy
  • 1 pound ground pork or sausage

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 375℉ and lightly coat a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish with some grease or nonstick spray.
  2. Take one can of biscuits, cut them into bite-sized pieces, and spread across the casserole dish. Pop it into the oven for 12–15 minutes, just enough to cook them halfway.
  3. In a large skillet, cook your ground pork or sausage until browned and crumbled. Once done, drain off the grease and scatter this on top of the biscuits.
  4. Use the same pan to heat up the canned sausage gravy. Stir now and then on medium heat until it gets a slight golden-brown color. Pour the gravy over the meat layer in the dish.
  5. Sprinkle some black pepper on top of the sausage gravy once you’ve poured it in.
  6. Cut the biscuits from the second can and neatly place them in one layer directly over everything in the dish.
  7. Let it cook uncovered for 10 minutes. Cover it with foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes.
  8. After baking, brush the top layer of biscuits with melted butter for a golden finish.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider using sage or other herbs in the sausage mixture.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and reheated for convenience.
  • Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
